I Originate from Coventry and moved to Warrington in 2000.

My parents where avid CB'rs between 1980-83, and this is where I was first introduced into radio. My father was chairman of the local breakers club, he then sat his RAE in 83-84 and became a radio ham, G6KHA. In the late 80's my father joined Coventry Raynet where he was Senior Engineer. I also joined as a non radio operator.

From the begining of the 90's untill recently, I had no involvement in radio and it was'nt until we visited my parents at christmas (back in 2004) that he had picked up his hobby again.

So I decided to take the exam and didn't tell him as I wanted to suprise him. He was suprised, infact rather pleased and although he doesn't get to hear many people down in Coventry, he looks forward to visiting Warrington.
You can find me as I monitor 145.500mhz most evenings and work local friends regularly on 144.525mhz. I enjoy a rag chew but also like to work SSTV (analogue), Packet, PSK31 and RTTY one day :-) I work 2M and HF bands when they are open.

I started off as a QRP station running 5W max on the hf bands and 12W max on the 2m band. I had an FT-817nd supported by a heathkit 2m linear amplifier. I now use an FT-857 running around 12Watts on PSK and 5W on 2m. I generally onlyuse high power when the need arises.

My antennas are a Watson 50 co-linear and the hf a g5rv half. I was a member of the Warrington Amatuer Radio Club and recommend that you check out thier website.
